How to Become a Licensed Home Inspector in Virginia

The Virginia Home Inspection Board requires all professional home inspectors to receive 70 hours of training. After completing classroom training, aspiring home inspectors must pass the National Home Inspectors Exam. With our recommended exam preparation, the NHIE is easily passable. Upon passing, aspiring home inspectors must then perform 25 ride-along inspections with a certified home inspector.  Most new inspectors get paid for this work as on-the-job-training.

Inspection Certification Associates’ classroom and field training has been approved by Virginia’s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) to provide the required classroom training for Virginia home inspector applicants.
